The Author
My name is Amy and I’m a graduate student specializing in Italian Baroque art, especially the work of Caravaggio. My academic interests span a range of topics and time periods, but my major interests include the Caravaggisti, the art and life of Bernini, the Protestant Reformation and its affects on Italian and Spanish art, depictions of violence in art, and the art and religious practices of Baroque Spain, particularly as they derive from and relate to Italy.
I earned my Bachelor’s in Art History from UCLA in 2010. While at UCLA, I was in the Honors Collegium and wrote my senior honors thesis about Caravaggio’s self-portraits in his David and Goliath paintings. I also served as the Art History Undergraduate Student Association’s Exhibitions/Installations Chair in 2008-2009.
After completing my undergraduate studies, I spent two years in the workforce, first as an Assistant Manager for a green architecture firm and then working for an SaS development company. In my spare time, I write posts for this site, upload large amounts of puppy photos to various social media outlets, and play Skyrim and Assassin’s Creed with my husband. We have a boxer/lab rescue named Owen who always wants to play.
