The Author
I received my B.A. in Art History from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in June 2010.
I have a Theory notebook where I record my art historical theories, jot down essay ideas, and list topics that I’m interested in exploring.
I enjoy writing, reading and cooking and will enjoy playing Hitman: Absolution when it is released. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a perfect game!
I married Ian in our (just about) lifelong church on April 10, 2011.
We named each table at our reception after artists.
Amy & Caravaggio
I am fascinated by Caravaggio. I have bookshelves full of biographies, studies of his art and examinations of the time period surrounding his life. I began studying Caravaggio most intensely at UCLA, but had theories about his life and art since my senior year of high school. UCLA was the catalyst that gave me the tools to study him. The Arts Library and Young Research Library proved invaluable and I spent countless hours there, poring over books about Caravaggio and the surrounding times. An incredibly important resource for my research was History 128B, the History of Italy from 1559-1848, especially since I want to specialize in Italian Art from the Protestant Reformation (1516) to the mid-17th century. I was also supported by phenomenal professors who let me ramble until I ran out of breath and then repeated what I said in the most simple, clear manner. My research culminated – if I can say this, for it won’t truly ever be complete – in a 35-page thesis.
